Our collective name represents the moment in a narrative when something unexpected turns toward hope — and that’s the kind of work we strive to make: media that leaves a lasting emotional imprint.

WHO WE ARE
Our Founder
Inspired by the little-known term coined by J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings — Eucatastrophe Media Group was founded in 2025 by filmmaker, photographer and writer, Zachariah Montgomery. At an early age, it was Tolkien’s work itself that sparked Z’s love of story, of adventure and the unwavering spirit of human beings.
He began working as an assistant in the Toronto film industry in 2018, gathering experience in nearly every department of production. His focus and passion however, had always been in directing stories he wanted to tell. Building strong connections with other professionals and dedicated creatives, the fellowship had begun to form.
“One of my favourite things about being a storyteller and creator is, and always has been, the incredible people you cross paths with along the way.” Zachariah has produced projects with international NGOs, tourism boards, retired special ops, authors, scientists, spiritual teachers, major corporations and more.
Eucatastrophe Media Group takes aim at changing how we create together in the industry — from development to execution, from the quality of our storytelling to the intentional and results-driven impact our audiences need.
In 2026, Eucatastrophe will also be expanding a new department into global affairs, documentary essays and video-journalism. Focusing on under-reported coverage and stories that deserve both wider perspective and a more hopeful view on the unfolding of events of the world.
